近來我打算在自己的 Desktop或Laptop System上，寫一些PHP的程式及進行測試，但可惜發覺MandivaLinux的PHP軟件包很分散，分散到我沒法找到我所需的PHP軟件包，令我開始重新找尋更合適作為我的 Desktop或Laptop System，經過閱讀LinuxPilot及LinuxFormat後，最後選擇了試用OpenSUSE 10.1 及 Ubuntu 6.06。

經過我簡單試用後，因為在OpenSUSE上的安裝及更新軟件時，不清淅的錯誤訊息令我太勞氣，便安裝Ubuntu Dapper來覆寫了OpenSUSE。再在Ubuntu上同樣安裝及更新軟件，雖然系統設定上還有一些小問題，但這回輕易很多了。

開放源碼的Linux顯生出不同的Linux分發版本，令我們作為電腦用戶，可以按自己的要求，自行選擇合適。而不會因專有軟件公司的人事變動，軟件質量變化，而只可繼續使用不合適，出現問題的軟件。
