Professor Chan and the HKBU School of Business invited me to deliver the first open source AI talk in Hong Kong, attended by over 70 MBA professors, students, and alumni. It was an honor to introduce this transformative topic to such an engaged audience.
In my presentation, I began with an overview of Artificial Intelligence, followed by a comparison of proprietary and open source AI models. I discussed OpenAI’s GPT and DALL-E 2, which prioritize controlled access, alongside open source models like Meta’s Llama 2 and TII’s Falcon, which emphasize community collaboration and accessibility. I also explored open source concepts, the AI development cycle, and tools like Hugging Face’s Transformers that empower developers. The audience was particularly curious about how open source AI can drive innovation for startups, sparking lively discussions. I look forward to seeing Hong Kong’s AI community grow and encourage readers to explore open source tools to join this global movement.
