Open Source HK Meetup #83 – Kafka

Tonight, Open Source Hong Kong is holding an open source HK meetup at Bloomberg’s HK office 📺, featuring a foreign speaker who came to Hong Kong to share insights on the Kafka Schema Registry. Big thanks to Bloomberg for providing the venue 🏢, Confluent for sponsoring the pizza 🍕, and several volunteers 👫 for arranging and managing everything. 👏

Next Wednesday night, another Open Source HK meetup will be with another foreign speaker—see you then! 🍺

Calvin, Vice President of Open Source Hong Kong, organized and hosted this meetup. Special thanks to committee member Daisy for helping with promotion and managing various on-site tasks and several familiar attendees who volunteered to assist on the spot.

The speaker, Dr. Engin Cukuroglu, Solutions Engineering Manager from Confluent in Singapore, explained the role of Kafka’s Schema Registry in Streaming Governance. He covered the fundamentals of Schema Registry and the best practices for integrating it with microservices.

Once again, thank you to Bloomberg for lending the venue and Confluent for sponsoring the food 🍕. This allowed Bloomberg colleagues, Confluent team members, the Open Source Hong Kong team, and attendees to enjoy a great evening of networking and exchange.
