Malaysia Open Source Conference (MOSC) 2013 is held in Kuala Lumpur in September 10-11, I am invited to be one of speaker, and they agreed to sponsor my travel and accommodation cost. Over two hundred participants attended.
I presented how did I start my open source weather data project – hk0weather to produce machine readable open data with web scraping. And I also gave a lightning talk to introduce deployment projects of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) in Asia Pacific and invite audiences to attend OLPC BaseCamp in Malaysia in November.
At MOSC 2013, I met Joomla developer Sam, and Malaysia Mozilla community leader. And some participants talked with me during lunch after my presentation to follow up their questions.
My expense claims still not get paid
As they promised to provide travel and accommodation sponsorship (and amount of cancellation charge of my flight for the postponement of their conference) before I accepted the speaker invitation, and paid in cash when I arrived in KL. But they didn’t pay before my departure, and busy on conference is their excuse, but they still didn’t pay for it and delay the payment with different excuses.
I hopes they will settle it as soon as possible.

2013-09-14: Since payment is not settled in cash before I left KL, so I emailed to one of organizers in charge – Azman and ask them to settle it by PayPal.
2013-09-20: MOSC Azman said that they will settle in next 10 days.
2013-09-29: MOSC Azman asked to delay the transfer to the week of middle November, due to communication problem with their sponsors.
2013-12-03: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment.
2013-12-11: MOSC Azman said that he is recovering from car accident, will contact with me next week.
2013-12-23: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment.
2013-12-30: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment and cc to MOSC secretariat office.
2014-01-04: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment and cc to MOSC secretariat office and other MOSC organizer email addresses I found. Another MOSC organizer Haris replied that he is trying to contact with Azman for financial report, and will reply in next few days.
2014-01-20: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment.
2014-02-20: MOSC Haris replied my 01-20 email that Azman cannot be located as well as funds. They filed the case to police for a criminal investigation. And they at MOSC agree that they owe me the amount of payment.
2014-05-28: I found that organizer started to organize MOSC 2014 and call for proposals, so I asked for my payment back again in email. They replied and said they hopes to settle it soon after they got sponsors for MOSC 2014.
2014-07-07: I emailed again to ask for status of the payment. Next day, they replied and said hopes it could be settled by the end of this month.
2014-08-27: They told on email that they need more time. I replied on 8/29 that I hopes they will settle it in September.
